Snipd Aren't Capturing the Right Content

In rare cases, your saved podcast moments might not match exactly - learn why this happens and how to fix it

Updated over 2 weeks ago

If you've noticed that your saved snips don't seem to match the content you intended to capture, it might be due to transcript synchronization issues.

TL;DR:

  • Snip misalignment is usually caused by dynamically inserted ads

  • We have a solution for podcasts published after October 2022

  • For older podcasts, you may need to manually adjust your snips

Why This Rarely Happens

In most cases, Snipd captures exactly what you want. However, sometimes when you save a moment from a podcast, it might include slightly different content than intended. This usually happens when the podcast's transcript isn't perfectly synced with the audio you're hearing.

The Technical Reason: Dynamic Ads

The main reason for this is Dynamic Ad Insertion (DAI). Podcasts often insert different ads each time an episode is downloaded, which can shift the timing of the content. For podcasts published after October 2022, we have a system in place to automatically adjust for these changes. However, older podcasts may still experience synchronization issues.
